Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans:

  • Provide additional benefits and services beyond what Original Medicare offers.
  • Cover Medicare Part A (hospital stays), Medicare Part B (doctor visits), and often Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage).
  • Some plans may have no monthly premiums.

Medicare Advantage plans consolidate Part A and Part B benefits, often integrating Part D (prescription drug coverage) as well. Many beneficiaries opt for these plans to streamline their coverage into one comprehensive package.

To enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, you must be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B, and you will continue to pay your Part B premiums. Medicare pays a fixed monthly amount to the Medicare Advantage plan administrator to oversee your healthcare, and the plan itself provides your medical services. Additionally, you must reside within the service area specified by the Medicare Advantage plan.
